Casting Drama Unfolds for Fantastic Four: Abbott and Dornan Screen-Tested for Reed Richards Role

Reports indicate that Christopher Abbott and Jamie Dornan recently underwent secret screen tests for the coveted role of Reed Richards in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four film. According to Jeff Sneider's The Insneider, both actors were flown to London just before the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) strike commenced.

However, sources suggest that the screen tests for Abbott and Dornan did not meet expectations. Prior rumors had linked Jake Gyllenhaal and Adam Driver to the role as well.

On November 15, 2023, /Film announced that Pedro Pascal, known for his roles in The Mandalorian and The Last of Us, had officially signed on as Reed Richards. Conflicting reports from Deadline and The Hollywood Reporter suggest the deal might hinge on Pascal's schedule.

Although Marvel has not confirmed anything, prevailing rumors also mention Vanessa Kirby, Joseph Quinn, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach joining the film as Sue Storm, Johnny Storm, and Ben Grimm, respectively.

For those curious about Abbott and Dornan's filmography, Abbott is recognized for roles in First Man (2018), Possessor (2020), Sanctuary (2022), and The Crowded Room (2023). Additionally, he stars alongside Willem Dafoe and Emma Stone in Poor Things and is set to appear in Sony's Kraven the Hunter movie, releasing in the United States on August 30, 2024.
