After facing harsh criticism for Fifty Shades of Grey, Jamie Dornan, accompanied by his wife Amelia Warner and their daughter Dulcie, sought refuge in a rural hideaway provided by the film's director, Sam Taylor.

The 41-year-old star of "The Tourist" shared with BBC Radio Four’s Desert Island Discs that despite the film's global success, the negative reviews lingered, affecting subsequent projects.

Reflecting on the aftermath, Dornan discussed the surreal experience of going from career-altering reviews for "The Fall" to facing ridicule for Fifty Shades. The Taylor-Johnsons graciously offered their countryside home, allowing Dornan and his family to retreat from the public eye.

Despite the challenges, Dornan expressed no regrets about portraying Christian Grey in the trilogy, acknowledging that the box office success tempered the sting of criticism.

In the interview, Dornan also opened up about personal losses, including the death of his mother to cancer during his teenage years and the tragic car crash in 1999 that claimed the lives of four classmates.

He credited his late father, a noted obstetrician, for providing wise words during his mother's terminal illness, emphasizing the importance of not letting it define their lives. Dornan expressed gratitude for the support and guidance that allowed him to find happiness amidst challenges.
